Graveside services for Ruth Janell Player, 81, were held on November 27 at Forbis Cemetery in Emory.
Mrs. Player died on November 21, 2020, at Dallas Regional Hospital. She was born on January 8, 1939, to W.T. and Mayme Burns. She was the oldest child and quickly became a big sister to her brother, Ray and sister, Barbara.
She met John Robert Player at the State Fair Of Texas in 1958. They married shortly after and they were blessed with three children.
They made their homes in Mesquite and Seagoville for the majority of their years together. They have been active members at Seagoville Church of Christ. Mrs. Player loved spending time with ladies there and building friendships. They were blessed with five grandchildren. They spent many summers and holidays around her kitchen table with homecooked meals and lots of love. She was also very blessed with six great-grandchildren: Logan, Jack, Charlotte, Madelyn, Anna and Iver. If there was a baby to hold, you could find it in Nana’s lap.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years; daughters, Frances Cumberland and husband Wayne and Karen Evans and husband Brian; son, Kenneth Player and wife Kay; five grandchildren, Natalie Penney and husband Shannon, Brad Hensley, Miranda Thompson and husband Joe, Mallory Arvo and husband Ryan and Samantha Snook and husband John; and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Player was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings.
