Funeral services for Ronnie Gowin, 78, of Emory, were held on December 7 at Emory Baptist Church. Interment followed in Dunbar Cemetery.
Mr. Gowin died on December 4, 2021, with his family by his side. He was born on July 24, 1943, in Dallas, to Elmer and Rachael Wade Gowin.
He married the love of his life, Wanda Sue Perew, on July 23, 1965. They had two sons. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and PawPaw. His family meant everything to him.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and retired from the United States Postal Service. When he was not with his wife and family, he could be found outside working, generally on his tractor. He loved to take his kids and grandkids hunting and fishing. He and Sue enjoyed years of traveling to distant places. Some of their fondest memories are from sitting around the campfire with family and friends and camping in their RV. He was a member of Emory Baptist Church and loved his church family.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years; sons, David and wife Jill, and Stephen and wife Keri; grandchildren, Kelby and wife Ashley of Midland, Gus, Aubrey, Avery and Hagen Gowin; great-granddaughter, Lyla Gowin; brothers, Danny and wife Sherian, Kenneth and wife Doris, Larry (Bo), and Perry Gowin; and numerous other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wayne Gowin; and nephew, Windell Gowin.
