Rodney Charles Greene

1952 – 2024

Interment followed in a private family service at Willow Springs Cemetery. Mike Odell, Jay Weddle, Ken Moody, Gideon Moss, Larry Watson, Sandy Lumley, Rob Waltman and Lee Pogue served as pallbearers. The Table of Knowledge members served as honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Greene died on August 22, 2024. He was born on October 25, 1952, to Floyd and Peggy Greene. He married Lou Ann Greene on December 29, 1972.

He was a graduate of Rains High School. After graduation, he and Lou Ann made their forever home in Emory where they raised two daughters, and eventually added six grandchildren to the family.

Mr. Greene’s spirit was characterized by a dry personality and a man of few words, but those who knew him understood that “what you see, is what you get” when he was around.

His career as a rancher and cattle buyer reflected his lifelong commitment to agriculture and the land that he loved. He took great pride in his role as a former rodeo stock producer, contributing to the rodeo culture in Texas. He had a passion for coon hunting and was a two-time world champion coon hunter.

His family was his proudest achievement. He was devoted to his wife, Lou Ann, and cherished his children and grandchildren. His greatest joys were watching them play sports, show pigs, and doing whatever they asked him to do at any time of day. He loved to brag on them every morning at the Y’all Come Back Café.

Mr. Greene is survived by his wife of 51 years; daughters, Kandi Oakes and husband Keith, and Kylie Bell and husband Brandon; father, Floyd Greene; sister, Teresa Northcutt and husband Ricky; grandchildren, Chanlee and Cambree Oakes, Hayden, Addison, and Case Fuller, and Braddox Bell; and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Greene; and brother, Steve Greene.
