Robert Henry Potts

1963 – 2021

A funeral service for Robert Henry Potts, 57, of Point, was held January 27 at Bull Creek Cowboy Church in Point.

Interment followed at Dougherty Cemetery.

Mr. Potts died on January 24, 2021, in Dallas. He was born on March 19, 1963, in Dallas to Henry and Maxanne (Orsborn) Potts. He married Jean Ann (Jacks) Potts on June 2, 2019, in Alba. He was a loving father, grandfather, beloved son and beloved husband.

Mr. Potts was a long-time business man. He started helping out at an early age. About the time he was big enough to push a two-wheeler and lift a bag of feed, he began working at his parents’ business, Potts Feed Store.

He graduated from Rains High School in 1981. He was involved in several sports, but his first love was always baseball. He earned a reputation as a high school pitcher with a wicked curve ball. He won several awards in sports throughout his high school career as well as receiving Mr. RHS his senior year.

After high school, he continued his baseball career at Panola College in Carthage, but later transferred to Northlake College in Irving to play baseball there.

In 1983, he began working with his dad’s cattle operation. After about 2 years, he made the decision to leave the cattle business and worked at the feed store. Several years later, he became part owner. He headed up a large expansion project in 2003. In 2005, the business was purchased from Henry and Maxanne Potts.

Over the years, the business won numerous awards for excellence by suppliers. Potts Feed Store has always been a great supporter of 4H, FFA, and all kinds of community projects.

He always valued his customers and considered them to be his friends. He gave much of the credit for a successful business to his loyal, long-time employees. There was a special closeness between them.
