A memorial service for Richard Shuford Nichols, 68, of Howard, Ohio, and formerly of Yantis, will be held on Saturday, January 23, at Lake Fork Baptist Church in Alba, at 11:00 a.m. Mr. Danny Meeks will officiate.
Mr. Nichols died on Friday, December 25, 2020, at his home. He was born on June 21, 1952, in Dallas to John and Alta (Harden) Nichols. He worked for Southwestern Bell for over 33 years and for the Lands End Fire Department in Yantis for over 11 years where he served as fire chief. He was a member of the Lake Fork Baptist Church where he served as Head of Maintenance. He also was a member of the Flora Masonic Lodge #119 in Quitman. He enjoyed hunting, volunteering, and helping whoever was in need. But most of all, he loved the time spent with his family.
Mr. Nichols is survived by his wife Carleen (Flores) Nichols; children, Jason Nichols and wife Stephanie, Vanessa Young and husband Bill, Robert Ash Nichols and wife Tressie; nine grandchildren; and two brothers, Jackey Nichols and wife Dottie and Chris Nichols and wife Kris Guerra; and his father.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
