Peggy Scott Busby, 93, died on April 28, 2023, at her home in Emory, surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer. She was born on July 24, 1929, in Mt. Pleasant, to Leonard Everett Scott, Sr., and Lydia Rebecca Keeling Scott.
She was one of eight children, grew up in Louisiana and Texas and lived in Grand Prairie for 60 years. She was a hard worker, running the business side of the floor covering shop she shared with her husband until they retired. She loved growing flowers, vegetable gardening and watching birds. She loved visiting with family, especially hearing them laugh and have a good time. She was a great cook, and everyone loved her famous pralines. She was loved and will be missed by many.
She is survived by her four daughters, Rebecca Ann Busby Minnis and husband John Stephen, Jackie Marie Busby Paduch, Paula Jane Busby Tapley and husband Cameron, and Cynthia Gail Busby White and husband David; sister, Nancy Jane Scott Weir; brother, Bobby Gene Scott; grandchildren, Samantha Minnis Montoya and husband Cody, Ian Minnis and wife Julie, Andrea Paduch Wilbanks and husband Jerry, Holly Zemens Stewart and husband Jeff, Mark Zemens and wife Casey, Ryan Tapley and wife Michal, Ethan Tapley, Kelsey White Crouch and husband Spencer, and Cody White; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 66 years, Horace William Busby; brothers, Leonard Everett Scott Jr., Milton Scott and William Walter Scott; and sisters, Helen Scott White and Anita Scott Toups.
