Oscar C. Sargent

Services for Oscar C. Sargent, 85, of Emory and formerly of Pampa, were held on November 18 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel in Pampa. Family friend Rex Freriks officiated.
Interment followed at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa.
Mr. Sargent died on November 13, 2019, at his home in Emory. He was born on January 9, 1934, in Lefors to Clarence and Minnie Sargent. He attended Pampa High School and was a Pampa Harvester. As a young man, he boxed in the Golden Gloves organization.
After high school, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. On March 26, 1956, he married Betty Fleming in Pampa. He became a member of United Plumbers and Pipefitters and worked in the USA and internationally for 61 years, retiring in 1995. He was an avid golfer and was a member of Hidden Hills Golf Club. He will be missed by many of his family and friends.
Mr. Sargent is survived by his wife of Emory; daughter, Sherrie Adams and husband Reggie of Emory; son, Mike Sargent and wife Patty of Ringgold, Georgia; nine grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bobbye Martin of Borger and Roberta Serarle of Marrietta, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edward Sargent and Walter Sargent; and a sister, Verena Stankviczh.
