Nellie Faye Turner Carter Niemeyer

1925 – 2024

Funeral services for Nellie Faye Turner Carter Niemeyer, 98, were held on February 26 at Woosley Baptist Church. Interment was in Prospect Cemetery and followed by the Order of Eastern Star Graveside Service.  

Mrs. Niemeyer died on February 21, 2024, at Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville. She was born on October 21, 1925, in Rains County, to Henry Clay Turner and Mary Elizabeth Levacy. 

Mrs. Niemeyer was a registered nurse and retired after 28 years of nursing in the ICU at the Greenville hospital. She graduated from Point High School in 1945 as valedictorian of her class. She loved the Texas Rangers and watched them every chance she could. She enjoyed gardening and traveling with friends. She dedicated herself to serving at her church and participating in civic community activities.

Mrs. Niemeyer is survived by daughters, Mary Conner and husband Doug, Dorothy Carter, and Alice Wenzel and husband Scotty; grandchildren, Cori and Jeramy Slemmons, David and Cathleen Conner, and Michelle and John Turk; great-grandchildren, Kyle Schellinger, Beau Schellinger, Bailey Conner, Rome Slemmons, Miles Turk, Cassidy and Steven Collins, and Rylee Slemmons; great-great-grandchild, Teagan Collins; sister, Mary Lou Harris; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Rolen Carter and William Niemeyer; six brothers; and three sisters.
