Funeral services for Nancy Joe Jones Simmons, 86, of Point, will be held on Friday, January 28, at 10:00 a.m., at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas.
Mrs. Simmons died on Tuesday, January 18, 2022. She was born on May 7, 1936, in Gadsden, Ala., to Berlie and Jesse Jones.
She graduated in 1954 from Emma Sansom High School in Gadsden. She married Huston Earl Lewis Simmons from Attalla, Ala., on August 20, 1955, in Dade County, Georgia.
Over the years they lived in Birmingham, Ala, Dallas, and Dothan, Ala., before settling in the Dallas area to raise their family. She worked for Forney Engineering in Dallas for many years before retiring to live full-time at their lake house in Tawakoni. She loved having family and friends gather at the lake for cookouts and enjoyed watching all of the kids that all called her Granny. She was deeply involved in her church and served as the church secretary for many years at Free Bridge Baptist Church.
Mrs. Simmons is survived by her sister Mary Bray; son Andrew Simmons and wife Deborah of Lucas; daughter Loretta Spear and husband James of Ft Worth; grandchildren Rebekah Simmons (Garrett Cox), Hannah Simmons Probasco (Tyler), Nathan Bradford (Erica), Michael Bradford and Christina Bradford; great-grandchildren Hayley and Aubrey Bradford, Wyatt and Ryder Bradford, Devon Bradford.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in April 2000; younger brother Glenn Jones; and many cousins.
Family visitation will precede the services at 9:00 a.m, at Restland Memorial Chapel.
Services will be streamed live thru the Restland website.
