Funeral services for Merline Waldon Patterson, 82, of Alba, will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.Rev. Sherrie Beazley will officiate.Interment will follow in Pilgrim Rest #1 Cemetery, Emory. Pallbearers will be Dean Patterson, Colton Holmes, Chance Bollinger, Dylan Patterson, Dusty Drake, Tony Hill, Gary Harrison and Dennis Harrison.
Mrs. Patterson died on December 31, 2023, in Mineola. She was born on February 15, 1941, in Rains County, to William Benjamin and Mollie Myrtle Huff Waldon. She moved to Wood County from Raytown, Mo., 15 years ago. She enjoyed listening to audio tapes of westerns and drinking coffee and tea. She loved her family, especially her grandkids.
She is survived by her son, Aubrey Dean Patterson of Midland; daughter, Linda Sue Holmes of Farmersville; sisters, Anna Kathrine Harrison of Alba and Margie Hill of Emory; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Bobby Waldon, Jimmy Waldon, Dalton Waldon, Walter Waldon and Harvey Waldon; and two sisters, Dorothy Waldon and Geraldine Young.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 4, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
