A celebration of life in honor of Kimballa Kay Sisk Talkington, age 55, was held on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at 6:00 P.M. at The Wildflower Wedding and Special Event Venue in Emory, TX. Kim passed away on October 4, 2022, at home.
Kim was born on January 2, 1967, in Rains County to Robert and Dollie Sisk. She married Bo Talkington on November 26, 1992. She is survived by her husband, Bo Talkington; mother, Dollie Sisk; brother Heath Sisk and wife Kristi of Emory; children, Kaley Jones and husband Tyler of Emory, Kara Harper and husband Nate of Emory, Torie Talkington of Denton, Shannon Addison and husband Blain of Dallas, Lance Talkington and wife Rosemary of Celina, Ginger Talkington of Chicago, and Tara Talkington of Los Angeles; grandchildren, Jett and Journey Jones, Kade, Kohen, and Kolbie Harper, Rylynne Westra, Avery, Tyler and Miles Talkington and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Kim was preceded in death by her father, Robert Sisk and daughter, Genie Westra.
Kim, also known as Coach T, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and volleyball coach. She was an outstanding athlete at Rains ISD, competing in the state volleyball tournament in 1984, and the state track meet. After completing college in 2 years, she came back to Rains to coach some of her former fellow athletes. She ended up leading her teams to over 420 wins during her 25-year career. Her tenure as a coach in Rains County shaped many lives through hard work, discipline in actions, and setting goals meant for exemplary achievement. Outside of being an athlete, she had many other talents, including painting, drawing, and gardening. She was an accomplished seamstress and made pageant dresses and Halloween costumes for her friends and family and even an entire wedding party’s dresses from scratch. She excelled at everything her heart reached towards.
Kim’s influential impact on her community was undeniable; she poured her heart and soul into the lives of her family, athletes, and students which left a legacy that will continue forward into the lives of others.
