James Lee Ingram, 95, died on March 25, 2024, at home in Emory with his family by his side. He was born on April 18, 1928, in Emory, to Virgel and Birdie (Fuller) Ingram.
Mr. Ingram served in the United States Navy in World War II. He received an honorary diploma from Rains ISD for the Class of 1946. The honorary diploma was awarded to many of the veterans from Rains County who had to leave school to join the military. Mr. Ingram and his wife spent a lot of time working with veterans in Rains County.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Iva Lou (Melton); daughters, Dixie Cress, Linda Gambrill, Sondra Northcutt, Janice Lively, Patricia Stafford and Valencia Berg; sons, Don Ingram and Jimmy Ingram; 23 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Orval Ingram; sons-in-law, David Northcutt, David Lively and David Stafford; daughter-in-law, Mylee “Joan” Ingram; and great-grandson, Jack Northcutt.
Mr. Ingram will be cremated and his cremains will be interred at Dunbar Cemetery in Emory. A private family memorial will be held on April 28, 2024 at 2:00.
