A celebration of life for Homer Dwayne Jennings, 89, was held on February 12 in Derby Kansas;.
Mr. Jennings died on January 27, 2022, at his home in Derby, Kan., surrounded by family. He was born on January 23, 1933, in Emory, to Clarence Homer and Chlota Dorothy Jennings.
He graduated from Waxahachie High School in 1950 and served in the U.S. Army for two years. He finished his Bachelors Degree in Science and Electrical Engineering in 1960 at the University of Texas. His career led him to focus on the field of aerospace and in the early sixties he developed and wrote the technical operation manual for astronauts during the Apollo missions. Later in his career he worked on the electrical systems for the international space station. He retired at the age of 62 from Boeing as an electrical engineer.
Mr. Jennings enjoyed many hobbies including traveling, photography, exploring, inventing, painting and music. He enjoyed performing with the Great Plains Dulcimer Alliance.
Mr. Jennings is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janet Carolyn Jennings; children, Michael Jennings and wife Margie, Susan Roby and husband Bill, Jennifer Faflick and husband Jeff, and Wynne Horne and husband Curtis; grandchildren, Craig and Ronda Jennings, Michell and Jeremy Henri, Ashley and Clay Pronald, Alyssa Jennings, Christopher and Hailey Jennings, Emily and Jeff Doramus, Kyle Roby, Andy Roby, Ryan and Kacey Faflick, Dustin and Taylor Faflick, Dylan Faflick, Tyler Horne, Shelby and Kevin Nop; 15 great-grandchildren and two on the way, Maddie and Weston Jennings, Gabriella, Peyton, Caleb, Keegan Henri, Alexis and Louis Vivanco, Jaxson and Mason Doramus, Liam Killenberg, Jakoby Faflick, Rowdy and Harley Allen and Cooper Faflick.
Funeral services were under the direction of Smith Family Mortuaries in Kansas.
