Ervin Dwayne “Johnny” Briggs

1934 – 2022

Funeral services for Ervin Dwayne Briggs, 76, of Point, were held on June 10, at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel. Pallbearers were Dustin Briggs, Kevin Briggs, Craig Briggs, Tracy Burns, Corey Cone, Brian Lipscomb, Eddy Dodson and Ricky Dodson.

Mr. Briggs died peacefully surrounded by his family on June 7, 2022, in Mount Pleasant. He was born on October 27, 1945, to Ervin Briggs and Margie Maxine Dodson in Point. He served in the US Army during Vietnam and retired from Texas Instruments to care for his parents.

He loved his family and fishing but most importantly he chose to love the Lord. He would sit with his daughter-in-law and study the scriptures to have a better understanding.

To his family he was the best daddy, uncle and papa. He taught them about character, honor and integrity. He took them hunting and fishing and taught them how to ride a motorcycle and drive a truck. He was always there for his family.

Mr. Briggs is survived by his sons, Dustin Briggs and wife Nancy of Point and Kevin Briggs and wife Sher of Tyler; grandchildren, Katie, Kristie, Kaden, Kameron, Kaylee, Tabitha, Kierstin and Breanna; many great-grandchildren; brother, Terry Briggs; sisters, Tammy Young, Sherry Cone and Penny Burns; and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home in Emory.
