Funeral services for Edward D. Burns Jr., 88, of Emory, were held on February 5, at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Chapel in Emory. Brother Jimmy Jarrett and Brother Robert Burns officiated. Interment followed in Turner Cemetery.
Mr. Burns died on January 30, 2024, at Baylor Scott and White (Lake Pointe) in Rowlett. He was born on May 9, 1935, in Emory, to Edward Burns Sr. and Edith O’Rear.
Mr. Burns attended school in Emory and married Mary Ann Harvey on August 28, 1954, in Dallas. They enjoyed 63 years of marriage. He worked for Sabine River Authority of Texas for 29 years and retired on May 2, 1997. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Emory.
Mr. Burns is survived by two sons, Edward Burns (Eddie) and wife Janice of Emory, and Ronnie Burns and wife, Penny of Point; grandchildren, Tracy Burns and wife Rachel of Lone Oak, Sarah Ivie and husband Ryan of Emory, Rachel Blount and husband Jeremy of Sulphur Springs; great-grandchildren, Jaycee Ivie, Addyson Ivie and Jolie Blount; sisters, Helen Rigby of Emory and Margaret Burns of Rockwall; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert Burns, James Burns and Joe Burns.
