A memorial service for Edman Don McLeroy, 73, formerly of Emory, will be held at Emory Baptist Church on Saturday, January 11, at 1:30.
Mr. McLeroy died peacefully in his sleep on December 29, 2019, at his new residence in Pearland, with his wife and daughters by his side. He was born to Thomas and Imogene Williams McLeroy in Greenville on January 25, 1946. He attended Rains ISD before going to work with the Texas Highway Department. He worked his entire career with them, keeping the roads maintained and signs posted.
He married Virginia Waldrop McLeroy on April 27, 1968. After his retirement, he enjoyed camping with his wife and youngest daughter Dee. He also enjoyed going to bluegrass festivals. He loved to strike up conversations with people in other RVs, encouraging them to join his wife and him in jam sessions. He also enjoyed trying his luck and skill by gaming, either at home or on vacation. He loved his trips to see others perform, even just out to Joe Ben’s.
He enjoyed having visitors at his home, offering them a glass of tea and talking for hours. He loved having his grandchildren around, and took a wonderful trip with grandson Daniel to Mt. Rushmore. He was a member of Emory Baptist Church.
Mr. McLeroy is survived by wife, Virginia McLeroy of Pearland; daughters, Angi Fox and husband Mike of Pearland and DeAnna McLeroy of Pearland; grandchildren, Miranda Fox of Spring, Tabitha Fox of Pearland and Daniel Fox of Pearland; and numerous other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Martha Lloyd.
A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m., prior to the memorial service at Emory Baptist Church.
