David Lyle Craddock

1938 – 2022

A memorial service for David Lyle Craddock, 84, of Emory, will be held on Saturday, November 5, at 2:00 p.m., at Emory Baptist Church. Bro. Richard Piles will officiate. 

Mr. Craddock died on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. He was born on July 29, 1938, in Houston, to William “Lyle” and Bessie “Ruth” Wade Craddock. 

He graduated from Arlington State College and  owned several companies throughout his career with the last one being Superior Couriers. He married Alice Alaniz on September 19, 1957, in Dallas, and they have four children. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves. Mr. Craddock was a deacon at Emory Baptist Church and served on several committees including the Building & Ground Committee and the Pastor Search Committee. He led the Bible Drill program for several years and helped the team get to the state competition. 

Mr. Craddock is survived by his wife of 65 years; children, Kenneth Craddock and wife JoAnn, Nancy Lumme and husband Donnie, Janice Bickley and husband Dave, and Sandra Jacobs; grandchildren, Joshua Davis and wife Belle, Morgan Daniel and husband Rich, JT Hearn and wife Cindy, Cameron Jacobs and fiancé Britny Barnett, Benjamin Craddock, Ashley Ashmore and husband Harrison, Brandon Bickley and wife Abbey, Alec Lumme and fiancé Brenna Cole, and Devin Hardee and husband Brandon; great-grandchildren, Joshua Davis, Layla Daniel, Ava Davis, Abbie Davis, Emilia Davis, Kinsler Waldroup, Everly Bickley, Maddux Ashmore and Sawyer Hearn; and his beloved dog.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandson, Nicholas Ryan Jacobs. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Emory Baptist Church Family Life Building Fund.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home.

A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
