A memorial service for Charles Edward McClanahan, Sr, of Emory, will be held on Sunday, October 8, at 2:00 p.m. at the House of Prayer at 1382 FM 515.
Charles was born on July 18, 1941 in Hogansville to Charlie and Callie McClanahan. He passed away on September 17, 2023 at his home in Steamboat Shores.
Often called a “Modern Day Noah,” Charles set out to complete the calling he felt that God wanted of him. In 2009, he deeded two acres to build House of Prayer. In 2011 he deeded the balance of his property to build the McClanahan Family Life Center.
Charles was proceeded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife Wanda of Emory; son, Eddie McClanahan (Robin) of Royce City; daughter, Deborah Rodden (Tracy) of Sunnyvale; step-daughters, Leslie McCaughan (Lynn) of Corpus Christi, Amber Boswell of Corpus Christi, Tonda Helms (Shane) of Tyler, Teri Hudson (Heath) of Batesville, Mississippi; a brother, James McClanahan of Van; two sisters, Dorthy Rutzen and Linda Puckett of Van; three grandchildren; and ten step-grandchildren.
