Services for Billy Ray Sears, 87, of Alba, were held September 20 at Lake Fork Baptist Church, Alba. Bro. Chris Horton officiated.
Interment followed in Rest Haven Memorial Park, Rockwall. Pallbearers were Keith Lofland, Randy Lofland, David Ricketts, James Kerr, Bo Fites, and Lee Doolin. Honorary pallbearers were the members of his Sunday school class.
Mr. Sears died on September 17, 2020, in Sulphur Springs. He was born January 27, 1933, in Rockwall, to John Kelly and Lena Elizabeth Parker Sears. On January 15, 1954, he married Billie Jean Gilbert in Rockwall. Billy served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War era. He drove an 18-wheeler for 32 years and also worked at Rockwall ISD as a maintenance man for 13 years. He was a member of Lake Fork Baptist Church of Alba.
Mr. Sears is survived by his wife of Alba; two sons, Michael Sears and wife Kimberly of New Boston and Dwayne Sears and wife Danette of Sulphur Springs; two brothers, Bobby Jack Sears of Marble Falls and Tommy Kelly Sears and wife Becky of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister, Betty Gayler of Nacogdoches; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara Graem; two brothers-in-law, Melvin Graem and Robert Gayler; and sister-in-law, Elaine Sears.
Memorials can be made to the Lake Fork Baptist Church Building Fund.
Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.
