A memorial service for Elma Jean “Jeanne” Ely Sprague, 81, will be held on August 10, 2024, at Emory Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m.
Mrs. Sprague died on July 19, 2024, in Emory. She was born on January 23, 1943, to William Andrew Buyher and Erma Jewell Stuart Buyher, in Canton.
Mrs. Sprague graduated from Paris Jr. College and became a registered nurse. She went on to work at E-Systems. In her youth, she dabbled in the art of hairstyling. She also held an A & P license.
She loved adventure and often sought new experiences and challenges. She found joy in her horses and excelled in barrel racing. In her downtime she loved spending leisurely evenings with friends and family on the back porch, savoring drinks and each other’s company.
She is survived by her sons, Bryan Ely and wife Staci, Leon Ely and wife Christy; grandchildren, Logan Ely, Lyle Ely, Nikki Farrar, Courtney Brust, Colt Brust, Callie Burch, Garrett Chaney, Ryon Chaney, Britni Buck, Bailey Ramsey, Bethany Moran, Jesse Oswalt and Elijah Brown; great-grandchildren, Benni Brust, Leaton Ely, Franklin Burch Jeremy Burch, Stevie Chaney, Kennedy Chaney, Knox Oswalt, Beckett Oswalt and Arthur Moran.
