Celebration of Life Graveside Services for Billie D. Northcut, 91, were held on April 13, 2024, in the Abernathy Cemetery, in Abernathy. Mark Meurer led the service at the graveside. Serving as pallbearers were James Steele, Dustin Hendon, Brandon Northcutt, Tom Sooter, Jerry Coalson and Justin Hanson. Honorary pallbearers were Patricia Wordell, Shawna Lewis and Lindsay Northcut.
Mr. Northcut died on April 7, 2024, in Lubbock. He was born on February 8, 1933, in Emory, to John Dero and Lenah Beatrice Taylor Northcut.
He was the oldest of four children and grew up in Dallas where he attended school and graduated from Sunset High School in 1951. He married Billie Frances Coalson in Dallas on July 25, 1952, and they were married almost 69 years. They had two daughters and one son.
He is survived by his daughters, Melinda Carol Northcut Steele and husband Don, and Brenda Kay Northcut Price; son, William Dean Northcut and wife Deana; seven grandchildren, James Daniel Steele and wife Mindy, Jeffery Paul Steele and wife Melody, Patricia Shannon Wordell and partner Cari Davis, Shawna Lea Lewis, Dustin Dean Hendon and wife Bobbie, Brandon Eric Northcut and wife Cate, and Lindsay Michelle Northcut and fiancé Justin Henson; great-grandson, Luke Anthony Northcut; brother, John D. Northcut and wife Jocelyne; sister, Joe Ann Northcut McIver; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and sister, Mary Beth Sooter.
