Funeral services for Albert Hughie Strebeck, 88, will be held on Thursday, January 18, at 1:00 p.m., at Wilson Orwosky Funeral Home in Emory. Interment will follow in Turner Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be the Dallas Police Department Honor Guard.
Mr. Strebeck died on January 9, 2024, in McKinney. He was born on June 9, 1935, in Alba.
Following his high school graduation, he spent five years working on the railroad. In 1959, he began a career with the Dallas Police Department serving as an officer. He served for 26 years before retiring in 1985. After his retirement from the police force, he continued to provide security services for various hotels.
Mr. Strebeck was also part of a bluegrass band called The Bluegrass Texans where he played a big bass.
Mr. Strebeck is survived by his wife of 15 years, Julia; daughters, Cindie Barnett and husband Donald, and Kathy Phillips and husband Roy; brother, V.O. Jr. Strebeck and wife Nancy; sister, Leuna Jacobs; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and numerous others.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Strebeck; sister, Ruth Jobe; first wife, Mildred Lyles; second wife, Mary Stinson; sons, Jeff Strebeck, Michael Strebeck and Ben Howard Franks Jr.; and daughter, Tami Sheree Strebeck.
A visitation for Mr. Strebeck will be held one hour prior to the service on January 18, at noon.
