Funeral services for Paul L. Butler, 85, of Lubbock, will held on Saturday, January 20, at 2:00 p.m., at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, with John Villarreal officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Nathan Gutschke, Jonathan Gutschke, Richard Butler, Bud Bryant, Phillip Alderson, Stu Kilzer and Connor Hoell.
Mr. Butler died on January 13, 2024, in Lubbock. He was born on April 16, 1938, in Alba, to Joseph Claude and Georgia Jewel Poston Butler. He graduated from the University of Texas in 1963. Mr. Butler worked for Lockheed Martin for 40 years as an aerospace engineer. He loved to “chew the fat” with any and everyone. He lived in Mineola for six years, before moving to Lubbock two years ago.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Cross of West Plains, Mo.; son, Richard Butler of Carson City, Nev.; daughters, Dawn Gutschke and husband Nathan of Lubbock, Denise Haukkala and husband Edward of Farmington, Utah, Shannon Kilzer and husband Stu of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Julie Brodie of Denver, Colo.; sister, Linnie Bryant of Hughes Springs; five grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim Butler; and half-brother, Flois Butler.
The family will receive friends, from noon until 2:00 p.m., at the funeral home before the service.
