A memorial service for James Garnett “Jim” Moreau, 88, of Alba, was held on December 3, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Emory. Father Michael Ledesma officiated, under the direction of his family and church.
Mr. Moreau died on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at his residence in Alba. He was born on November 22, 1935, in Indianapolis, Ind., to Arthur Stefan and Margie L. Lawless Moreau. He moved to Alba from Richmond, Va., 24 years ago. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Emory. He was a retired Colonel in the Army and an aviator, serving two tours in Vietnam. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed fishing and deer hunting and was also a big fan of Alabama football.
He is survived by sons, Michael Moreau of Leavenworth, Kan., and Bruce Moreau of Branson, Mo.; daughter, Renee Cunningham and husband Scott of Scottsdale, Ariz.; sisters, Mary Jo Friedrich and husband Paul, and Therese Crivella and husband Joseph; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 38 years, Jane Moreau; sister, Midge Moreau; son, Jay Moreau; and daughter, Jackie Moreau Field.
