Funeral services for Mary Irene “Gran” Campbell Lewers, 89, of Alba, were held on April 11, at Amazing Grace Fellowship Church in Alba. Bro. Byron George officiated. Interment followed in Colony Cemetery, Alba. Serving as pallbearers were Toby Liles, Tommy Campbell, Mark Campbell, Jonathan Watson, Kent Hayes, Tony Hill, Roger Gaby and Preston Lusk.
Mrs. Lewers died on April 7, 2023, at her residence in Alba. She was born on January 31, 1934, in Lindale, to Samuel Everett and Annie Irene Conway Campbell. She lived most of her life in Alba and was a member of Amazing Grace Fellowship Church. She married Louis Alvoy Lewers on March 17, 1951, in Alba. She enjoyed sewing, playing golf, working puzzles and playing games. She loved her family very much.
She is survived by two daughters, Glenda Ross and husband Phillip of Sulphur Springs and Debora Smith of Alba; brother, Andreil Eads of Garland; sisters, Sandra Liles, DaRue Wilson and husband Ray, and Patricia Watson and husband Danny, all of Emory; twelve grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 41 years, Louis “Stack” Lewers; son, Edward “Little Stack” Lewers; daughter, Martha Henley; brothers, Otha Campbell, Junior Campbell, Joe Campbell and Leroy Campbell; great-grandson, Louie Lewers; and son-in-law, Ben Smith.
Services were under the direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.
