Jan Michael Roden

1945 – 2022

Graveside memorial services for Jan Michael “Mike” Roden, 77, of Alba, will be held on Saturday, November 5, at 3:00 p.m., at the Golden Cemetery. Dr. Danny Pickens will officiate.

Mr. Roden died on October 11, 2022, at his residence in Alba. He was born on August 4, 1945, in Dallas, to Grady and Alvis Pugh Roden. He grew up in Greenville and was a Bronze Star recipient who served two tours in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War

During his work career he was employed by the Hunt County Sheriff’s Department, R.P. Spillers Cabinet Shop and RUAN trucking where he served as dispatcher. He lived the last 10 years in Alba and was a member of the Church of Christ. He loved spending time with his family, camping and Dutch oven cooking.

Mr. Roden is survived by his two daughters, Kelly Hobbs and husband Dana of Golden and Donna Stockton and husband Coy of League City; son, Michael Roden and wife Alaina of Lindale; sister, Kathy Waggener of Tyler; nine grandchildren, Justin Burkett, Amanda Burrell, Ashley Hass, Kindel Burkett, Johnathan Dorman, Taylor Preston, Lydia Stockton, Ty Stockton and Michael Roden; five great-grandchildren, Emma Burkett, Preston Hass, Mark Burkett, Zachary Burrell and Legend Crim; and numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two daughters, Jana Preston and Brandi Dorman.

In lieu of flowers, cash donations may be made online to the Marine Corp Toys for Tots program or a new toy donation box will be provided at the service.

Services are under the direction of family and friends.
