Betty Marie Weeden

1931 – 2022

A Celebration of Life Service for Betty Marie Weeden, 90, was held at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel in Emory on February 15. Interment followed at Lone Star Cemetery in Point. Pallbearers were Dustin Trussell, Jordan Williams, Bret Kolbe, Tony Lawrence, Claye Smith and Charlie Jusko. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Frank Rascoe, Sean Weeden, Andrew Lawrence, Cy Williams and Brody Trussell.

Mrs. Weeden died on February 10, 2022. at home in Peaster. She was born in the Woosley community on June 5, 1931, to Sam Montgomery Fenter and Clara Prince Fenter, along with her twin brother, Johnny Lee Fenter, who was born 15 minutes earlier.

She met the love of her life during high school in Point. At 16 she married Jimmie Lee Tidwell and remained married for a lifetime of 52 years before his passing. She and Jimmie worked together at Sears Roebuck and Company on Lamar Street in Dallas for 34 years.

After retirement, she was involved in many social activities in Rains County. She judged antiques at the county fair, was a member of the Happy Homemakers in Emory and was President of the Ladies Civic Club in Point. She was an avid crafter and taught and shared her crafts

Mrs. Weeden loved her church and church family at the First Baptist Church in Point where  she followed in her parents footsteps by becoming a lifelong member. She served as VBS director for many years.

Following the passing of her husband, she worked at Walmart in Greenville as the telephone operator for 12 years.

Later she married Johnny Ray Weeden. They lived in Point for eight years before moving to Weatherford to be closer to her daughter. They were married for 11 years prior to his death. In Weatherford, Mrs. Weeden joined Couts Memorial Methodist Church along with her daughter and son in-law Diane and Danny, with whom she resided in Peaster until her death. 

Mrs. Weeden is survived by her children, Darlene Bennett of Bedford, Donnie Lee Tidwell  of Quitman, Diane Ballard and husband Danny of Peaster, and Jimmie Dewayne Tidwell stationed in Korea; stepson, Sean Weeden and Reiko of Virginia; 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and lots of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Lee Tidwell; husband, Johnny Ray Weeden; her parents; brothers, Averal Montgomery (Pete) Fenter, Theo Lester (Hot) Fenter, Johnny Lee Fenter; sisters, Cleo Ester Fenter, Odell Fenter Rascoe; and one son, Danny Joe Tidwell.
