Services for Marshall Maurice Harrison, 88, of Dallas, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 8, at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas. Jim Tenery will officiate, with an opening prayer delivered by Thomas Melton.
Mr. Harrison died on Tuesday, September 28, 2021. He was born on May 23, 1933, in Dallas, where he enjoyed growing up the youngest of six siblings.
He started his career as a welder in 1951 and worked full time until the age of 83. Having originally started a welding business in the 1960s with his brother, he went on to start another successful welding business and worked side-by-side with his son for over 30 years.
He was a longtime elder and deacon of the Cliffwood Church of Christ and was often described as gentle, generous and godly.
He is survived by his wife of almost 68 years, Margie Luckett Harrison; daughters, Patricia Howle and husband Dan of Emory, and Susan Watts and husband Bobby; son, Michael Harrison and wife Kristy; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Marion and Jessie Harrison; infant son, Rickie Harrison; brothers, T.N. Harrison, E.F. Harrison and J.B. Harrison; and sisters, Leola Bennett and Capitola Chance.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Life Line Chaplaincy.
Arrangements are under the direction of Laurel Land Funeral Home.
A visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 p.m., prior to the service.
