A private memorial for Iva Lou (Kitty) Melton Ingram will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Ingram, 92, died at home on October 7, 2025, in Emory, surrounded by her family. She was born on June 8, 1933, in Emory, to Elmo (Bo) Melton and Fannie Mae (Waldrop) Melton.
Mrs. Ingram was born and raised in Emory and attended Emory schools. She worked for Lee Optical for many years. While raising her children, she graduated from cosmetology school. She worked at Emory Health and Rehab as their hairdresser for 15 years doing the hair and nails of the residents whom she loved until she retired at the age of 80.
Mrs. Ingram is survived by her sister, Helen Gonzales; daughters, Charlotte Wallin and husband Phil, Linda Gambrill, Sondra Northcutt, Janice Lively and fiancé Henry, Patricia Stafford, and Valencia Berg; son, Jimmy Ingram; two stepchildren, Dixie Cress and Don Ingram; 23 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren, and three on the way.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James (Jim) Ingram; her parents; brothers, Bill Melton and Floyd Melton; sisters, Thelma Blake, Ida Sanders, and Ophelia (Doll) Vaughan; sons-in-law, David Northcutt, David Lively, and David Stafford; daughter-in-law, Mylee Ingram; and grandson, Jack Edgar Northcutt.
Mrs. Ingram will be cremated and her cremains will be interred at Dunbar Cemetery, in Emory.
